Having already started Standard Motors India, one of India's
"Big 3" Vehicle Manufacturers, K. Gopalakrishnan goes on to open
Union Components & Acessories Ltd (UCAL) to locally manufacture Dunlop bicycle pumps and Bosch Ignition coils, with guidance from Robert Bosch himself.
Being so closely linked to a vehilce manufacturer, we have always had a deep understanding of our customers' challenges and needs.
Gopalakrishnan's family continued in his Automotive footsetps:
as founding members of the Madras Race Track and Racing Club, the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers (SIAM) and remain actively involved in the industry across various UCAL branded businesses today.
1980s
UCAL Fuel Systems Ltd founded as a JV with Mikuni for Carburettor Manufacturing - bringing Japanase quality systems to India.
UFSL Plant 1 Opened in Chennai with Ganapathy Homum (Pictured)
